Introducing Black on Shelf with Tenaj Ferguson, Founder and Host

In this first episode of Black on Shelf, I share my vision for the podcast, what you can expect, and a little about myself.

During the day I work in brand strategy as a brand manager for a grocery retailer, by night I am your favorite podcaster. Black on Shelf was born from my desire to leverage my time and talents to lift up Black and Brown brands as I climb the corporate ladder.

The Black on Shelf Podcast exists to champion Black and Brown Entrepreneurs on the digital and physical retail shelves. Each episode will inspire and empower you.

Every week, I chat with emerging Black and Brown founders and leading Black and Brown industry experts. My hope is to share compelling stories to motivate you on your own journey. I also share insights on how to build your brand and get your business retail-ready. I share both their high and low points because I believe that there is a lot to learn from failure.

Once a month, I will have a special sub-series called “The Check-out” where I share insights from my product discovery trips and put you on to new and trending brands. I often bring a fellow professional guest to collaborate in sharing insights and to provide tools to help get you retail ready.

Let’s keep the conversations going. I want to connect with you as members of the Black on Shelf community aka the BOS fam. I bring you an extra special segment called  “The Breakroom” on Linkedin where we come together to learn,  share and network.

In This Episode You Will Learn:

  • The sub-segments of Black on Shelf episodes (1:43)

  • What to expect from each episode (2:46)

  • A little about me (5:29)

  • My personal brand statement (9:15)

  • How Black on Shelf came about (9:53)
